Artist Statement

Growing up in Iran, I was constantly aware of the many artistic aspects that thousands of years of history created in that unique environment. This influenced my own personal expression in the art of capturing, in particular, the lives of women and how they evolved and adjusted to their freedoms in their place in the world.

A few years ago, my house burned down and I lost all of my paintings and my family’s belongings. After that time, the colors I chose for my painting were more organic and earth tones, and my style became strictly abstract. I slowly incorporated more variety and diversity. Now, I am not bound to one medium or method of painting: I believe artistic expression comes in stages and each stage takes a different mood, method, and medium to fully complete itself.
